About the Roche© Antibody test
An antibody test is a looking for things called antibodies in your blood. Your body makes these when it fights an infection, like Covid-19. The same thing happens when you get a vaccine, like a flu jab. That’s how you build immunity to a virus.
The antibody test isn’t checking for the virus itself. Instead, it looks to see whether your immune system (your body’s defence against illness) has responded to the infection.
Roche’s© SARS-CoV2 antibody test, which has a specificity greater than 99.8% and 100% sensitivity3 (14 Days post-PCR confirmation), can help assess patients’ immune response to the virus. As more is understood about immunity to SARS-CoV-2, the test may help to assess who has built up immunity to the virus.
Elecsys® Anti-SARS-CoV-2 is an immunoassay for the in-vitro qualitative detection of antibodies (including IgG) to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in human serum and plasma. The assay uses a recombinant protein representing the nucleopsid (N) antigen for the determination of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2. The test is intended as an aid in the determination of the immune reaction to SARS-CoV-2.

How does the Antibody Test work?
You’ll have to give some blood, in this instance through a blood draw (blood draws have to be carried out by a trained phlebotomist).
These test for two kinds of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2.
They look for:
- IgM antibodies, which develop early in an infection, and
- IgG antibodies, which are more likely to show up later after you’ve recovered
Keep in mind that current antibody tests can’t tell you if you’re immune to Covid-19 just yet.
What's the difference between a PCR test and an Antibody Test?
A PCR test, sometimes called a PCR antigen test, looks for signs of active virus in your body. It’s simpler and faster than an antibody test. But it tells you only if you have the virus in
your body at the moment when you’re tested. These tests are usually carried out using a nasal or throat swab.
An antibody test shows that you had the virus at some point in the past.

How to Order
Its easy to place an order, simply click the below ‘Buy Now’ button and head over to your basket and check out.
We will contact you following your order to arrange an appointment with our Phlebotomist.
How the test works:
This test requires a full blood draw which can be carried out from the comfort of your own home by a fully trained and qualified phlebotomist.
The kit will posted out to you following your order, we will the be in touch to discuss facilitating the appointment with the Phlebotomist.
The phlebotomist will have everything they need in order to perform the blood draw. Full PPE will be worn at all times.
The method of this testing uses the ELISA platform for detection if IgM and IgG antibodies present in the blood sample.
On completion of your sample you will need to book a same day courier to collect the package to return this to our lab.
The laboratory turnaround time is estimated as 2 to 3 days from receiving your sample at the lab. This may vary dependent on the capacity and workload at any given time.
