Drug awareness campaign to start next week - UAE 

 

Abu Dhabi: The National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) today announced that a drug awareness campaign which aims to educate the public on the risks and dangers of drug use as well as treatment and rehabilitation, will be launched next week, in partnership with Abu Dhabi Police, to mark World Drug Day.

Breath test car locks to keep repeat drink-drivers off Canberra roads 

Repeat drink-drivers in Canberra must now have special locks fitted to their cars to prevent them driving while under the influence. From Tuesday, motorists convicted of serious drink-driving offences will have to pay for an alcohol interlock to be fitted to their vehicle. An alcohol interlock is an electronic breath testing device wired into the ignition of a vehicle. A driver must blow an alcohol-free breath sample into the device before the car will start. Sharp rise in ChildLine drink and drug abuse calls 

  Almost three-quarters of the calls made to ChildLine were from under 15-year-old ChildLine counsellors in Scotland carried out almost a thousand sessions with children concerned about parents abusing drink or drugs last year. Huddersfield charity calls on firms to get tough with drink drivers 

Firms need to get tougher with people caught drinking and driving. That was the message from a Huddersfield safety charity as a new survey found fewer than half (44%) would dismiss an employee for driving over the legal alcohol limit.
